Programme Overview

AAWAJ is inviting applications for a program that aims to provide comprehensive restorative care to child survivors of sexual abuse in the Katni and Bhopal districts of Madhya Pradesh, ensuring they and their families receive psychosocial and legal support throughout the justice process. By facilitating smooth navigation of the legal system, securing victim compensation, and empowering the survivors, the program seeks to expedite the prosecution of cases, reduce delays, and achieve a high conviction rate. The initiative ensures comprehensive support for the child’s well-being, safety, and integration into society, working closely with local authorities and social welfare schemes.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

  • Liaise with authorities like the police, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), medical practitioners, and others involved in the case.
  • Document and maintain case updates, and report progress regularly.
  • Organize training and capacity-building programs for the staff and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate monthly school visits to conduct awareness programs and teacher orientations.
  • Participate in review meetings, data collection for action research, and contribute to child rights discourse.
  • Manage cases and provide necessary psychosocial and rehabilitation support.
  • Engage with children and families to help them cope with trauma and foster resilience.
  • Assist in filing FIRs and provide legal support in coordination with lawyers/DLSA.
  • Accompany the child or family during court proceedings and ensure witness protection.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or Child Development, or a Graduate with 3 years of experience in child protection.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with excellent written and spoken English and Hindi skills.
  • Commitment to child rights and strong knowledge of child protection-related laws.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, persistence, and a diplomatic approach to child advocacy.
  • A minimum commitment of 16 months is preferred.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments, willing to respond to cases even at late hours.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in child protection or victim support.
  • Familiarity with local community, government schemes, and child protection laws, especially the POCSO Act, etc.
